I have bought this exact model at least 3 times over many years now due to moves and sharing systems. I have looked every time to see if there is anything different out that would work better for a good price and every single time i come back to this. Definitely recommend!

Shouldn’t be on the shelf.
In 2026, this simply should not be sold. At a bare minimum it should come with a big fat warning on the product page/in the store. It’s not a ”bad” product exactly, it’s been fine for most people for many years (myself included), but it’s ancient and DOCSIS 3.0 is actively being phased out by many providers. If you buy it now to save a few bucks, you’re basically throwing that money in the trash. This is like getting a phone dock with an apple 30 pin plug with your new iPhone.

Cable modem that works with Xfinity
This ARRIS surfboard is compatible with my Xfinity internet service. As far as cable modems go it does what it needs to do, send an internet signal to my router. I think if I had to buy it again, I’d get a modem/router combo unit. I was under rushed circumstances to get our internet setup since I work-from-home. I’ve not had any issues with this modem so if you’re in the market for a reasonably priced modem this one should do the trick. One con, the lights on the modem are bright in the bedroom, but you can turn them off by logging into the modem admin console.
