Features
- Tuned for NAS with NASware Western Digital’s exclusive NASware technology fine tunes drive parameters to match NAS system workloads, which helps increase performance and reliability.
- Designed for Continuous Operation Since your NAS system is always on, a reliable drive is essential. WD Red Plus hard drives are designed for systems that operate 24x7, giving users the confidence of knowing they can reliably access their data.
- Tested for Dependable Compatibility Western Digital partners with a wide range of NAS system vendors for extensive testing to ensure compatibility with most NAS enclosures.
- Optimized for Lower TCO WD Red Plus drives are engineered to use less power (versus previous models) and run cooler, which reduces operating costs and helps reduce heat in thermally challenged NAS boxes.
- Powered for Strong Performance Despite using less power, the drives have plenty of bandwidth to handle the mixed performance demands of multi-drive NAS systems.
- Balanced for Increased Reliability Hard drives that are not properly balanced may cause excessive vibration and noise in multi-drive systems, which could reduce hard drive life span and degrade the performance over time. Our enhanced dual-plane balance control technology significantly improves balance and increases overall drive performance and reliability.
- Backed by World-Class Support and Warranty As an industry-leading hard drive manufacturer, Western Digital stands behind their NAS storage solutions with the assurance of a 3-year limited warranty and world-class support services for hassle free data storage.

Western Digital internal NAS drive

Dead on arrival
Best Buy is selling dead on arrival hard disk and it’s very hard to get replacement. They are dodgy when it’s comes for defective item to get equal replacement. When I asked them they refunded to card. I bought this for 170$ and current price bumped to 230$. They didn’t want to replace because they will be at loss. They told me order new one instead of getting replaced.

Dead on Arrival
DOA. The drive would not even power up. I have purchased many of these 6TB Red Plus drives and this is the first that would not even power up. Have had several power up with dreaded clicking noise. I’m not sure what is worse. The manufacture date of this drive was 10 March 2026. I’m sure ground FedEx from Georgia to San Francisco in a half empty box didn’t help. Of course with the current drive shortage BestBuy couldn’t replace but I got a prompt refund. Unfortunately replacing the drive will cost more than what this one cost. Darn data centers! 3 out of 5 stars for good product but bad…

Good Deal and Quick Shipping
I ordered a pair of these for a home NAS right before the prices started skyrocketing. They were delivered quickly in a well packaged box and are performing great so far.

Reliable drive for a Synology NAS
Reliable drive used in my previous NAS, purchased again (larger capacity) for my new one!

Recommended for the price
It’s good and all, but it’s never going to beat an SSD.

Buy it already
Cheapest deal you’ll find for this high of quality.

Dead on Arrival when purchased.
Dead on arrival when purchased. Didn’t realize it was 15 day return window, and going through the warranty process. Already had to pay for shipping, Western Digital claimed I wasn’t charged when I followed up, and been 3 weeks and still waiting on the replacement. Will definitely reconsider Western Digital going forward and a bit annoyed with Best Buy as well.
