A product that was so satisfying
It was satisfactory to buy a disk drive for 80$ instead of buying an ssd for my playstation which is very expensive.

Works perfectly! Don’t buy it.
TLDR; PlayStation announced no more discs past 2028 making this kind of pointless past then, otherwise solid product for disc owners or those who borrow games from others. This was very simple to install and gives the expected install times when installing a game. It also looks very clean on the PS5 Pro. Now to address the elephant in the room. I bought this and a PS5 Pro in March 2026 before both the price increase on consoles and more relevant to this item before announcing that PlayStation will no longer be producing games on disc after 2028. This is sad because I quite enjoy how well this…

Useful for a little while longer.
If you upgraded from the base ps5 and have plenty of discs then you will want this to install your existing catalog of games. Easily installs without any tools. You just pop off the existing cover, pop on the disc drive and replacement cover and you are set! No screws or bolts or anything to mess with.

PS5 Disc
Works perfect with you PS5. Adding the disc option to watch my Blu-ray collection is all this PS5 was missing.
-
easy install
works perfectly and is super easy to install, if you like physical media this is a must.
-
Simple to install
Easy to install I keep my gaming system in my room now I get to play my old ps4 games
-
So Expensive for What Should be Included
Bought this before the Sony no disc announcement. Price needs to be lowered by Sony. Still will use for old games and movies. (Cat to scale).
-
Simple snap-in installation
Snapping off the console plate and clicking this drive into place took less than two minutes. The system recognized it instantly after a quick reboot, and it reads physical game discs quietly without excessive vibration.
-
Necessity!
Useful and easy to install. An absolute must on the ps5 pro if you plan to play disc games.
