Designed for socket AM4 motherboards using the powerful Zen 3 architecture, the 7nm 5th generation Ryzen processor offers significantly improved performance compared to its predecessor. With a base clock speed of 3.6 GHz and a max boost clock speed of 4.2 GHz in addition to 16MB of L3 Cache, the Ryzen 5 5500 is built to deliver the power needed to smoothly handle tasks ranging from content creation to immersive gaming experiences. You can boost performance further by overclocking this unlocked processor. Other features include support for PCIe Gen 3 technology and 3200 MHz DDR4 RAM with compatible motherboards. This processor has a 65W TDP (Thermal Design Power) and includes a Wraith Stealth cooling solution. Please note that it does not have an integrated GPU, so a dedicated graphics card is required.

This item was a replacement for a defective chip. At this time, the new chip and mother board are working well. I would buy it again & I would recommend it.

Big upgrade
My mother bought this for a new system after finding out her old Socket AM4 processor would not work with her new motherboard due to being incompatible. Her old Processor is an AMD Ryzen 2700x 8-core CPU. She chose this due to price as well as compatibility. She also likes how much faster this processor is with less cores than her old one. The only thing she doesn’t like is the fact that it’s a downgrade as far as cores go. She uses it just for browsing the internet, paying a few bills online, buying things online sometimes, and watching videos on YouTube.
