Easy to grab and easy to hold, the JBL Grip is the speaker that’s always within reach. The JBL Grip is powerful for its size. JBL Grip may be compact, but its pro sound is big—punchy bass and crystal-clear highs. Whether it’s setting the vibe for mindful morning stretches or soundtracking lazy beach days, the JBL Grip is our go-to. The built-in ambient light on the back panel adapts to the moment, so you can set the mood for chill date nights and spontaneous hangs. Use the convenient side-panel control button to switch between light themes, so the mood is always right whether you're winding down or turning up. Did we mention it’s super tough? The JBL Grip is built to handle anything. With an industry-leading IP68 waterproof and dustproof rating, it goes wherever we do. Its drop-proof design means it can survive a hard fall onto concrete—no party fouls here. All that, plus up to 14 hours of playtime with Playtime Boost. When friends roll through, we’re using Auracast to stereo pair two Grips for instant surround sound. Why stop there? We can connect as many JBL Auracast-enabled speakers as we’ve got for an all-out sound experience. Solo chillin’ or vibing with the crew—the JBL Grip is as flexible as we are.

Features

Bold JBL Pro Sound The JBL Grip may be small enough to hold in one hand, but it packs bold JBL Pro Sound. With AI Sound Boost, it analyzes music in real time, using an algorithm to optimize output for bigger sound with less distortion.
Up to 14 hours of playtime Keep the mood going for 12 hours on a single charge—plus an extra 2 hours with Playtime Boost when the vibes are too good to stop.
Ambient light The speaker’s back panel features an integrated ambient light with unique themes and color options, so you can set the mood to match your mix. Use the JBL Portable app to finetune the brightness and lock in your preferred look.
Waterproof, dustproof, and drop-proof We designed the JBL Grip to handle the bumps and bruises of everyday fun. Along with its waterproof and dustproof IP68 rating, it's also drop-proof—built to keep playing even after a 1-meter drop onto concrete.
Multi-speaker connection with Auracast Want to share the vibes with the crew? With Auracast, we can easily stereo pair two Grip speakers for a wider soundstage or connect multiple JBL Auracast-enabled speakers to fill the space with the same playlist.
JBL Portable app Customize the Grip’s sound with a 7-band EQ, light color options, and intensity, and get updates and support directly from the JBL Portable app. That way, we can always match the sound and vibe to our mood, wherever we are.
Recycled plastic and fabric, plus FSC certified paper packaging Built with post-consumer recycled plastic and fabric for the speaker grille, so we get big sound with less impact to the planet. It's also packaged in FSC-certified paper printed with soy ink.

Decent but not worth the MSRP
I purchased a pair of Sony ULT Field 1’s at the same time and wound up returning these. These were on sale for $65 (Versus $77 for the Sony’s). Pros: Clear voice, solid sound, speaker link setup, easy to use app, good battery life, portability, Light effect features Cons: Mid tier loudness, bass is minimal, speakers are punchy Overall: At the price point offered, the Sony’s are a much better speaker in every which way. These are not terrible speakers though, so if they can be had at the next tier of speakers down’s price point (Sub $50), go for it.

Disappointed
I’ve had several jbl speakers over the years. This is the worst I ever had. Took over 9 hours to charge and I would get 40 min to 2 hours play time within the first 3 days of buying. Tried different cables in case mine were bad. Same results. After a week I could not listen to it without being plugged in and even then it was still dying. Exchanged for another grip. I got a whole 3 hours out of that and dies while plugged in. So needless to say I am returning the new one today. This says up to 14 hour play time and I can’t even get past the 3 hour mark. Wish they lasted like my old jbls.

Fun light show and punchy sound
Fun light show and punchy sound! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐The Good: The JBL Grip sounds surprisingly loud and clear for its tiny, portable size [JBL Grip Blue]. The app-controlled LED light panel is a great touch for setting a vibe at night. It is fully waterproof (IP68), drop-proof, and gives you a solid 14 hours of playback [JBL Grip Blue].The Bad: The bass isn’t quite as deep as the larger Flip 7, but it still packs a great punch for its size.Verdict: An awesome, ultra-rugged little speaker. The light show and durability make it perfect for any outdoor hangout!
