Good product with all the usual features, Only lasted 4-5 years before breaking down.

Exterior metal strip corrodes quickly
My Cafe Modern microwave works fine, but the decorative silver metal strip on the exterior front of the microwave began to peel and corrode within a few months of the purchase. This was a splurge purchase for me because I loved the look of the microwave, so it’s disappointing that it stopped looking good almost immediately.

BUYER BEWARE: Poor Design and Product Support
We purchased the initial version of this microwave in November of 2021. By January of 2022, the microwave started to having popping noises inside when running. Then, the digital clock/panel in the door went completely on the fritz. Either the numbers on the digital display wouldn’t show up correctly or not show up at all. Since it was under the 1-year warranty, we called GE Repair and they sent a technician out. He advised that this microwave was poorly designed because the wiring to the control panel is all embedded in the door hinge. Therefore, the wiring rubs and gets twisted each time you…

Beware, Health hazard
Bottom line upfront- this microwave is dangerous for your life and health. It has a flimsy door and it keeps running even when the door is open. I called GE and the customer service guy didn’t really care. He says they will try to fix it. I reported them to FDA as it does not meet FDA regulations. A microwave should stop when the door is in the open position, there is a chance to cook your eyes or internal organs if you are close by. I bought mine in September 2023 and still waiting for a working door. I attached my microwave model number and manufacturing date stay away. I will update this…
