A large paper weight.
Does not play nice with Apple TV 4K 2nd generation. Audio and video drops at random points during viewing but only on some apps. Peacock, tennis channel, hbo max are perfect - random audio drops on Apple TV, video and audio drops on YouTube TV, to name a few. It is blogging to the mind how some apps are fine and some not, this isn’t an HDMI handshake issue, there is no switching. Just a failure of Sony to test. This would have been my 5th Sony ES in the last 40 years. I’m a great fan but the ride is over. What a waste of time. Who knows, the kid who got my order did give the item a jolt when…

I had a Sony receiver for 30+ years
Pro; Easy setup Makes my speakers sound better than they have ever before. I was able to get this on sale and it was worth every penny without it being on sale. The quality is a up to par with my last Sony, so I expect another 30 years. Startup is quick Cons; Protection mode but I also love it for keeping my system safe Weight - you might need help carrying it, moving it or just looking at it feels heavy. Tall - 10.5 inches tall which might require shelf adjustment. Deep - It deep enough to stick out over a normal stereo shelf.

I’ve had 2 marantz receivers and 2 demon receivers so far and this Sony receiver is up there with them if not past them. Very great sound quality. It is easy to use and setup. If you have Sony products it works very well and only need one remote to control all products. The only downside I see with this receiver is that it is extremely heavy. If you don’t workout on the regular, you will need assistance moving it around. I give this receiver 2 thumbs up!

Good receiver
I originally bought this receiver a few months back, but it failed on me. Shortly after receiving the unit, I turned it on one day and I heard a “pop”. I didnt think too much about it, until I started hearing buzzing noise randomly coming from my speakers. Sometimes it was the fronts, sometimes it was the center speaker. Everything was good up until that popping sound from inside the receiver. Obviously I returned the unit. I did reconsider giving it another chance and I just purchased it again along with new speakers. So far its working great. Its paired up with the Kef LS50Meta for front…

Sony...meh, better than average...barely.
Easy install. Screen is very difficult to read. Not as impressed as I’d hoped. Definitely better than my Pioneer!! My DT speakers don’t light up like they did before. No auto detect regarding the content...which is extremely disappointing considering today’s tech.

Sony STR-ZA3000ES
I am way over surprised with the power in this receiver. Wow, super powerful and an awesome theater experience. This replaced a Denon receiver. Which worked well but would never have the punch that this Sony does! I absolutely love this, the theater experience is well with the upgrade.

APP is basic could be better but not necessary (web 10.144.1.200 has full setup including remote = easier to use IP vs remote) ____ (used with a90k and ubpm800) _____1st and last AVR (SONY ES For life) ES AVR alone is 5x better for BT (CURRENT soundsrd sounds better without the need for a subwoofer due to DSEE = not intended design but perfect) ____ also setup as a 2.0.2 with Core speakers/atmos (planning @ sony SA-RS5 & SA-SW5 = FULL 4.1.4 SETUP) = core speakers alone sound crystal clear but will require a subwoofer

Great receiver!
So far pretty darn good receiver. Sounds great. Looks great. And it’s only missing pre puts. But if you don’t need it. It’s perfect. Take your time setting up the sound to the room and you should be very happy as well. It was the least expensive for the features and sound quality you can get that also can bi-amp my front speakers and still have atmos height for my fronts as well. Love it.
