This Best Receiver Ever
I have large rock speaker by my pool that sounded horrible until I bought this receiver. I should have bought it sooner. It is outstanding being able to adjust the sound volume different from indoors.

Good value, but you get what you pay for.
[Employee of bestbuy] Considering the price, performs phenomenally. Most of the downsides are software related. Personally Dirac worked fine, just has a very dated UI and switches HDMI pretty slowly. Also if the format changes it goes black while it updates.

amazing sound i have better sound than any IMax and my stereo buff friends who rock other brands agree i have the best system the clarity definition paired with klipse blowes all my friends systems away thank you Onkyo and best buy for making this happen for me i never write reviews but this was worth letting the world know Regards to All Lonnie

Died after 5 months. Terrible warranty support.
See title. Buy another brand. Onkyo refusing to perform work based on petty details of the purchase. Trying to say it’s outsids the 3 year window when this reciever is only a year old.

It was Okay
I ultimately returned this item for the Sony. I had too many issues with Dirac Live. I used the auto level calibration and it kept giving me errors when I went to do the regular calibration after it. I paid extra for Bass Control. Once I finally finished Dirac (with an error), I went to use Bass Control as it prompted me. However, each time, it stopped with an Error. Too many errors. Other than that, it did power my Martin Logans without issue. I am hoping the Sony, which costs significantly more, will be a better option for home theater than Dirac. Keep in mind, Dirac is it’s own company.…

Disappointed in Best Buy
I bought this on sale for a good price. It took a few weeks to arrive off back order. I was building my entertainment center so I did not open it for two weeks. It powered up, the fan ran very loud, then after a minute powered down and just started clicking. It was a Saturday night so I decided to wait to call Onkyo and Best Buy until Monday to see if there was a reset before I returned it. When I called on Monday, Best Buy told me the return window had passed my two days and I was out of luck. Call Onkyo. Onkyo answered and referred me to an authorized service center. Returned and no response from Onkyo
I was upgrading from Onkyo TX-NR7100 so familiar with Onkyo’s menus and set up. HDMI video stopped sending signal to TV. Did all the expected troubleshooting. Tried multiple HDMI cables, different inputs on TV. Even set up menu wouldn’t display. The NR7100 did work on the same HDMI cables and TV inputs. I opened a ticket with Onkyo but never heard back. Returned as defective to Best Buy. Too expensive for low level of service..
