• Terrible KitchenAid product & customer service

A new KitchenAid trash compactor did not work when it was installed in early Jan 2025. It was replaced and the replacement had the same problem - drawer wouldn’t automatically open. A KitchenAid certified technician was scheduled and he had to special order parts in mid Feb. The compactor has still not been repaired.

• Door Breaks Easy & Often - Makes it useless.

2 Stars because the foot pedal to open the compactor door broke within 5 minutes. It was repaired and broke again. Everyone who tries to use it gets frustrated because it’s nearly impossible to open unless you have just the right foot technique to open the compactor door. My parents bought the same model and have the exact same issue. They just don’t close theirs. Mine was panel ready and a custom panel was put in, and theirs was a standard door that came with it. Both have the exact same problem, meaning the custom panel isn’t the cause.

• No front panel

This trash compactor does NOT come with a front panel as shown. You have to build one yourself or contact a contractor to build one for you. You can’t buy one from kitchen aid they don’t carry them. I even contacted other places that sell compactor parts and they can’t get it either. There isn’t even a part number for one to order one!! So make sure you know this before you order one!! No body told us that!! It says that it doesn’t come with one but it doesn’t tell you that you can’t even order one!! We had to make a temporary one until we can get one made. Other than that I love it!! Kitchen…

• Dysfunctional trash compactor.

The drawer doesn’t open fluently. When I press on the foot pedal to open it the drawer disengages but doesn’t open---I then have to lift up AND pull on the handle to get the drawer open. I had a factory rep repairman to assess it and he said nothing is wrong with it---that it was functioning properly. I am not appeased at all. This unit replaced my prior KitchenAid built-in trash compactor that lasted 28+ years so I’m speaking from experience that the door should pop open unassisted. Note: I made the purchase on 9/1/20. The delivery date was 11/25/20. Install was 11/30/20. I’ve been too busy…

• Replacement

An exact replacement for our 8-year old KitchenAid compactor. If you get the custom panel ready version, beware that the install service fee does not include installing the custom panel. It was only 4 screws that exactly lined up since it was an exact replacement. So no big deal, I did it myself and the install crew did the rest.

We are enjoying the great products from our Palm Desert Pacific Sales Store. Our sales person, Bonnie was great and the store manager was fantastic in assisting in our purchase.
