Defective open-box, but excellent customer service
I decided to save a bit of money and bought this adapter as an open-box item, but unfortunately, it did not work right out of the packaging. It failed to output any video signal at all. However, Best Buy customer service made the return incredibly easy—they took it back immediately and issued a full refund without any hassle. While the product itself was a letdown, the customer service was excellent. I would recommend buying this brand-new instead of open-box.

helped with black screen
i was using just a hdmi cable from my hp victus laptop to my samsung 49 inch monitor and was getting a black screen. this worked great in not getting the black screen
